In 2015, when the Lord began calling me to Kenosha to Pastor this church, He laid the name North Point on my heart as a name for this church. I wrote it down, prayed about it, thought about it, and then filed it away until we arrived. I began looking into what this name meant after we arrived and this was what I found.
I have had so many people come to our altars all across our movement and it doesn’t matter if they are a first time guest, returning guest, wayward Christian coming home or faithful church member. They all have this in common “Pastor, pray for me, pray for us we need direction.” Direction in our home, direction in my job, direction in our marriage, direction in our relationship, direction in college, direction with my kids.
There is a cry going out in this generation for direction and with God’s help North Point will fulfill that need. North Point will be a beacon of Light and Hope in the darkness of Kenosha. North Point will be that reference point to find home, Jesus Christ the “Author and Finisher of your faith.” Hebrews 12:1-2
When I saw that North corresponds to 0, I began to think about how we are all one in Christ and all start at the same place with Christ no matter who we are. These Scriptures began to come to mind.
- North is the direction, especially in Western culture, that is treated as the fundamental direction.
- North is used to define all other directions.
- The visual top edges of maps usually correspond to the northern edge of the area represented, unless explicitly stated otherwise.
- If a map has a single arrow it will usually indicate true north.
- Globes of the earth have the North Pole at the top.
- Of all the directions on a compass North is decorated more prominently than any other compass point.
- On a compass North corresponds to 0.
- North corresponds to up.

For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. GALATIANS 3:26-28 KJV For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. ROM 3:23 KJV For there is no respect of persons with God. ROM 2:11 KJV |
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 2 PETER 3:9 KJV And all that believed were together, and had all things common. ACTS 2:44 KJV Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2 COR 5:17 KJV |
At North Point you can find your “starting place”; it’s a fresh start; it’s a chance to start over; it’s a chance to begin your journey with Christ; it’s your starting point.
Old Made New – Old things are passed away behold ALL things are made new.
There is no seniority in the Kingdom of God. We all start at the same place, faith.
But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is,
and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.
HEBREWS 11:6
and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.
HEBREWS 11:6
North Point is a place that you can find direction for your life!
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
PSALM 119:105 KJV
PSALM 119:105 KJV
God’s word will guide your life. It will not only show you where you are but it will show you where you are going.
There is a call that is going out today.
There is a call that is going out today.
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart:
and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
MATTHEW 11:28-30 KJV

MATTHEW 11:28-30 KJV
And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me,
except it were given unto him of my Father.
JOHN 6:65 KJV
except it were given unto him of my Father.
JOHN 6:65 KJV
We don’t even come to Christ unless God draws us. If we are here today it’s because of His mercy.
Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
1 PETER 5:6-7 KJV
Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
1 PETER 5:6-7 KJV
If you have reached a place in your life where you may need direction for your life, or maybe you’re unsure of what God wants you to do and where He wants you be in His Kingdom, or maybe you may feel that where you are in Christ is not being satisfied and you want to go deeper in Christ, or maybe you may just need a fresh start.
